Koskenranta is an idyllic restaurant and conference center on the banks of Vanhakaupunginkoski (Old City rapids). It lies where the original settlement of Helsinki was founded, a unique venue at the crossroads of nature and history.

An old water flow laboratory built in 1946 has been converted into a 2000 square meter versatile space for your events. The venue suits anything from small meeting to events for up to 1000 guests.

Our sunny restaurant and its terrace overlooking the rapids offer you lunch, brunch or coffee in an unique environment, around the year.

NEW HOSTS FOR KOSKENRANTA

Michael Weckström, Ilpo Paasolainen and Jukka Mildh share a passion for offering unforgettable experiences. This joint passion brought the trio together for a new adventure at the beginning of this year to host and develop Koskenranta and its services.

Our House Band: Good Time Express

KoskenRanta proudly presents: one of Finland’s most prominent jazz musicians, Juki Välipakka and his band, the Good Time Express. The group’s impressively eclectic repertoire is the perfect match for any ambience.

Pastry chefs Claire Cowburn and Janne Koski bake sweet and savoury pastries with 30 years of experience. Our unique delicacies are available at our café, brunch and events.

Our event management expertise and network is at your service. Together with your organisation we will produce engaging and unforgettable events to support your business. We can tailor the venue and program to suit your party, meeting, seminar, exhibition or product launch, from just a few guests up to 1000.

We also welcome Event Agencies with their customers at Koskenranta.

ENTERTAINERS

A wide range of artists available through our network are keen to perform for you at Koskenranta. You can also enjoy performances by our house entertainers. Good Time Express is a band made up of tyop musicians. They will play anything from jazz to rock. Our pianist Sergei Sokolov will create an ambiance of your choice for your cocktail party or any other function. If laughter is your order, our Marino Clown will make your party roll or surprise you guests with a little magic.

cooking SCHOOL

Cooking is not rocket science. By carefully choosing ingredients and learning essential culinary skills, guests will learn to enjoy their successes in the kitchen.
“One of the most rewarding moments of this profession is the enthusiasm shown by the participants of our cooking school, and the fact that the skills learnt here will also be used at home”, says Kimmo Martiskainen, one of our chefs teaching in the cooking school.

There are many variations of the menus to learn in the Koskenranta Cooking School like the ones below.

Game delicacies

During the cookery course you will become familiar with the wide variety of game available in Finland and the exciting world of game dishes. You will learn the essential skill for handling game meats and the philosophy of their seasoning.

Surprise Menu

The evening’s menu will be a surprise for everyone, including chef himself. He will randomly select ingredients from a basket, out of which a delicious four-course menu will be prepared. The night’s festivities will of course be accompanied by a specially selected wine list.

The Secrets of Chocolate

The secrets of chocolate will be revealed, and this magnificent ingredient will be used to prepare a selection of delicious treats, including luxurious chocolate mousse, hand made truffles and chocolate garnishes. At the same time guests will get the chance to familiarise themselves with the perfect chocolate and dessert wine combinations.

An atmospheric suite of rooms that still possess their original 1950s fixtures. The suite includes a sauna, a fireplace, a separate group workroom and its own kitchen. Accommodates 6-32 people.

The Koski Suite sauna enjoys a view overlooking the rapids. Cool off on the suitably private terrace and enjoy the outdoor fireplace, barbeque stand and wooden bathing tub.

Description:

A spacious room in which can easily accommodate 140 people, rising to 200 when arranged for seminars. The room has a private five-meter long bar counter.

Facing KoskenRanta on the opposite shore of the rapids is the Museum of Technology, inside which is an auditorium that still has original seating from the legendary Adams movie theatre. 68 seats.
